The President's nominee for a 6 year term as Commissioner of Social Security, Michael J. Astrue, has been confirmed by Congress. He should be running things by the middle of February. There is much on his plate and the next several months may prove to be very interesting. He calls himself an incrementalist. Not sure how that will play out. The immediate crisis is the huge backlog of disability cases numbering in the hundres of thousands nationwide.
